Vietnam

Highlands – Ho Chi Minh

“Last minute setbacks on the border from Laos to Cambodia didn’t give us enough time to request our one-month Visa to Vietnam, which meant we had only two weeks to explore just a small part of the southern part of the country. Entering Vietnam through its Highlands was a beautiful change of landscape coming from the desert-like South of Laos, and tired of driving over 3000 kms on ‘La Conquistadora’, we decided to take the ‘Reunification Express’ all the way to Ho Chi Minh, where a huge city dominated by skyscrapers, local markets and of course, motorbikes, was waiting for us.”

Mekong Delta

“The Mekong River has been a constant presence during our journey around the asian continent. Immortalised in poems and literature of all times, it truly is part of Indochina's identity and culture. And so we said goodbye to it at the thrilling part where it rapidly flows into the wide sea: Mỹ Tho, one of the biggest cities on the Mekong Delta. We spent our days exploring local life and as usual we loved getting lost at its food markets, particularly the reknowned floating markets during early morning.”

Phú Quốc

“Our memories from our visit to Phú Quốc are rather bittersweet. The astonishing amount of new hotels and resorts made it clear that the island is expecting a huge influx of tourism in the coming years, and its beautiful coastline is hugely affected by one of Asia’s big issues: waste management and environmental education. Despite the enormous sadness we felt to see this, we visited one of the most exciting markets, where we saw a dog cut up to be sold as food for the first time. It was also here in Phú Quốc where we sold our motorbike to two great friends, Thatiana and Sergio.”
