Cambodia

Phnom Penh

“Phnom Penh, a vibrating capital still trying to overcome the remembrance of a horrifying past. The Cambodian Genocide, carried out by the Khmer Rouge regime led by Pol Pot from 1975-79, finished with the lives of an estimated 1.5-3 million people, tortured and brutally killed in extermination camps throughout the country. Inspired by communist ideals, the Khmer Rouge intended to convert Cambodian society into an agrarian socialism, killing generations of its intellectuals and political opponents. Phnom Penh, is a vivid example of Cambodia's efforts to take courageous steps towards a brighter future.”

Koh Rong Samloem

“A gift from nature located south of Cambodia. Incredible sea with crystal clear and shallow waters. Here, we enjoyed some of the best diving and watched several Toucans for the first time during some of the many jungle trekkings we did. It was here where we finally met Mauro and Jesús, a Portuguese-Spanish couple we had been crossing paths with since Koh Lanta in Thailand. Hard to believe that we even went to a rave at one of the most incredible locations one could imagine in the middle of the jungle.”

Angkor Wat

“Considered to be the biggest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat was originally built as a Hindu temple for the Khmer Empire by King Suryavarman and slowly transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century. Here, architecture and nature weave together to form an extraordinary experience that everyone should live at least once. We spent three full days exploring Angkor Wat, City of Temples, at an unbearable heat. Aside from the astonishing buildings, we enjoyed watching the thousands of diverse visitors this site receives from every corner of the world and their rather curious ways of travelling…”
